John Bowers Passes Away At Home, Saturday

John Bowers, 83, resident Elk Township for 72 years, passed away suddenly in his home Saturday morning. He had been around as usual on Friday. Saturday morning he had fallen when he attempted to rise for the day, and passed away before his family could reach his bedside.

Mr. Bowers was born July 2nd, 1869, in Burnside Township, and moved to Elk Township with his parents as a child of eleven. In 1894, he and Miss Delia Bearinger were married in Peck, and settled on the farm where he was raised, and has lived and also passed away. Mrs. Bowers preceded him in death 18 years ago.

He is survived by three sons, Clarence Bowers, and Elmer Bowers, both of Peck, and Harry Bowers, Snover; two daughters, Mrs. Grace Hayward, Brown City and Mrs. Vern Clapsadle, Peck; nine grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Ed. Noble; a son, Donald Bowers, died in 1941.

He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church all his life.

The remains were in the home until the time of service which was held at 10:30 Monday in St. John's Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Leo Skornia, pastor of the church, officiated. A. E. Fox had charge of the funeral arrangements. Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
