All for the love of his wife, Bessie, George R. Brown, went to Fairmount Memorial Park in hopes that they would help him honor the memory of his wife's first husband, Claude Dean Shoemaker, who died on Guadalcanal, in the Solomon Islands in 1942. Today, some 2,300 flags are raised every year on Memorial Day weekend at Fairmount Memorial Park as a result of his endeavor.
Fourty years have gone by since your passing. Could you ever imagine, what your gesture of love would have become? Thank you George.
