Sarah Viola "Ollie" Brooks was born on January 6, 1879, in Jackson County, Indiana. She was the daughter of John T. and Evadne Hamilton Brooks


She had at least two brothers: Charles B. Brooks and William J. Brooks.


Her father, John T. Brooks died on March 1, 1883, and was buried in Cortland, Indiana.


Her mother, Evadne L. Brooks and James Cole were married on September 21, 1883, in Indiana, possibly in Jackson County.


In the 1900 Federal census, James H. Cole, age 47, and "Vedna W. Cole, age 41, were living in Hamilton Township, Jackson County, Indiana, with Ella Brooks, age 19 and Marthy D. Brooks, age 14, as well as Myrtle Cole, age 7, and Claud M. Cole, age 8.


A marriage license announcement was published in The Daily Republican (Seymour, Indiana) on July 14, 1898, page 2, for William C. Callahan to Ollie Brooks. They were actually married on July 10, 1898, in Jackson County.


They had two children: Laura Callahan and Ezra Leroy Callahan. According to the 1910 Federal census, the family was living in Hamilton township, Jackson County, Indiana.

Jacob and Charles Brooks and Mrs. Bert Fleetwood were called to Shelburn Friday on account of the illness and death of their sister, Mrs. Ollie Callahan, which occurred at that place Friday night. They brought the remains back to this place Saturday on the late evening train. She was the daughter of Mrs. Cole, who was buried here last Monday.


OBITUARY


Ollie Brooks was born January 6, 1878, and died at her home in Sullivan county, Indiana, December 31, 1915, age 37 years, 11 months and 25 days. She was married to William Callahan July 10, 1898, and to this union were born one girl and one boy, Laura and Ezra. Her death was caused by a complication of diseases and was of long standing. She united with the Christian church at Surprise several years ago and lived a good Christian life until death. Her remains were brought to this place Saturday evening and the funeral was held at the Christian church Sunday at 11 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Reynolds, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Acme cemetery. She leaves a heart-broken husband, two children, three brothers and three sisters and a host of friends to mourn their loss. We extend to the bereaved ones our deepest sympathy in their hour of trouble.
