Elisha/Elijah Baldwin

Elisha was the first of his Baldwin name to come to this area.
It was Wilkes, then Ashe, then Alleghany (1859)

He was in Piney Creek area by 1759
and secured 400 acres on Prather's Creek
What is Bakers Ridge Rd at the Wayne Vanhoy Farm across from the old home

He is probably buried on his land here.
He would be buried with other family members.
He was old and sickly and there was no where else for him to go at that time
There was no other cemetery then.
But there was a known cemetery here

He married:

1 unknown, maybe buried in Wilkes Cty NC

2 a widow Laxton. Probably Margaret or Mary.
(Margaret per IRENE BALDWIN RESEARCH)
She came to the wedding with a son Thomas Laxton from her furst marriage
b 1763.

The Laxtons were from Wilkes.

The Baldwins lived on and near to Bakers Ridge in Piney Creek, NC surrounded by Sizemores, Bakers, Harts, Osbornes, Landreths, Mulkeys,Caldwells etc.

Elisha is in the DAR patriot index birth 1755 death 1820. This may all be wrong.
