He was born in Clifton, Tenn., to the late Neil and Ruth (Adams) Jeter. He married Angela Phipps, who preceded him in death Aug. 27, 1994.

He was a machine operator at Dana Corp. from 1965 to 1999. He was a veteran of the Air Force. He enjoyed spending time with his family and working in his yard. He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports.

Survivors include daughters Linda (Clif) Williams, Fairmount, Jill (Tom) Pearce, Pasco, Wash., and Connie Stair, Jonesboro; son, Chris Jeter, Tucson, Ariz.; half-brothers Arnold Jeter, Savannah, Tenn., and W.J. Jeter, Benton, Ky.; sisters, Jean Carroll, Murphysboro, Tenn., and Sue Baker, Alexandria; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Also preceding him in death are half-brother Ray and sister Elizabeth.
