RINGSTED — Mrs. Lola Hohn, 84, a resident of the Valley Vue Nursing Home, Armstrong, and formerly of Ringsted, died Monday at the nursing home. Services for Mrs. Hohn will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Ringsted Presbyterian Church with interment in the Ringsted Memorial Cemetery. Friends may call at the Henry and Olson Funeral Home, Ringsted, after 6 p.m. Wednesday until 11 a.m. Thursday.
Mrs. Hohn was born April 15, 1892, at Nebraska City, Neb., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Modeland. She received her education in Horton, Kan., schools and married Vernon E. Hohn Oct. 7,1914, in Horton. They moved to Algona where Mr. Hohn was a druggist and, in 1920, moved to Ringsted where he operated a drug store until retiring in 1950. Mrs. Hohn was a librarian in Ringsted for 43 years and one of the founders of the Ringsted Library. She was also a member of the Ringsted Presbyterian Church, where she was superintendent of Sunday School classes and a Sunday School teacher, a 50- year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and a longtime member of the Ringsted Study Club.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Clifford (May Ella) Loehr, Fort Dodge; 10 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Robert Stewart, Concord, Calif., and Fay Modeland, Oakland, Calif. Mrs. Hohn was proceeded in death by her husband, parents, four brothers, one sister and one great grand. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, Iowa, January 4, 1977)
