Mrs. Summersett, the widow of James A. Summersett was born in Darlington County, the daughter of Dr. Samuel I. and Annie Hamlin Blackwell. She had lived in Columbia for the past 47 years; She was a member of Park Street Baptist Church and the Pauline White Circle of that congregation.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Nell S. Goudelock of Greenville, Mrs. Samuel B. Moyle and Mrs. J.T. Cobb, both of Columbia; two sons, Lieut. Col. James A. Summersett, USA (retired) of San Antonio, Texas, and Ben K. Summersett of Columbia. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, four great grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Mattie R. Dowling of Florence, Mrs Betty Atkinson of Cecil, Ga., and Mrs. Olive Coggins of Miley; one Brother, S.J. Blackwell of Timonsville.
