Carrie Abbas, 102, of Hampton, passed away July 24, 2005, at the Franklin General Hospital Nursing Facility in Hampton. She was born Sept. 5, 1902, in rural Geneva to Jacob and Anna Sailer. Carrie attended North Star Country School east of Bradford, and she graduated from Ackley High School in 1921. She was married to Mell Abbas on Feb. 14, 1924, at the St. John's Parsonage in Ackley. Carrie was a farm wife. She was a member of the St. Peter's United Church of Christ in rural Geneva where she was involved in the Women's Fellowship and sewing circle at the church. She had a large garden and had beautiful flowers. She enjoyed playing the piano and organ, reading, doing needle work, making baby hats for the hospital, and making quilts for all her grandchildren. All of her grandchildren enjoyed having tea and cookies at Grandma's house.

She is survived by her son Howard (Dottie) Abbas of Hampton, daughter, Ruth Abbas of Glenwood, daughter Margery Gallogly of Buena Vista, Colorado, daughter Ellen (Dean) Weaver of Ogden, daughter Mary Ann (Leland) Roegner of Keota, son Fredrick (Mary) Abbas of Geneva, daughter-in-law Pat Abbas of Hampton, brother-in-law Leo (Lucy) Abbas of Hampton, twenty-four grandchildren, fifty-eight great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sons, two children in infancy, and one grandson.
