Obituary

Darrell Wayne Wierson, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Otis C. Wierson, was born April 20, 1943 at Story City. He was baptized by Rev. Olaf Holen in Salem church on June 27, 1943.

He met death on October 12, 1944 at the age of 1 year, 5 months and 22 days.

Left to mourn his loss are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wierson living one and three quarters miles east of Roland; four sisters, Arlene, now living in Des Moines, Oma (Mrs. Donald Bauge) of Ames, Delores and Patricia at home, and two brothers serving in the United States Navy, Fireman First Class Arnold Wierson in active duty on the Pacific, and Fireman First Class Wesley Wierson on active duty in England. Also surviving are his grandfather, Ole Wierson of Roland, one young nephew, Jerroll Bauge of Ames, and a large number of relatives.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the home and at Salem Lutheran church with Rev. Olaf Holen in charge. Rev. Holen sang, "He's a Friend of Little Children," at the home. At the church Marcia Eggland and Colleen Larson sang, "Jesus Loves Me," and Mr. and Mrs. O. S. Boyd sang, "Safe in the Arms of Jesus," and "Sometime We'll Understand."

Pall bearers were Richard Olson of Randall, and Leslie and Neil Jorgenson and Phillip Wierson of Story City. Burial was made in the Roland cemetery.

Among those in attendance at the funeral were Pvt. Donald Bauge of Camp Shanks, N.Y., Arlene Wierson of Des Moines, Jeffrey Thorson of Ft. Dodge, Mr. and Mrs. Wier Birkestrand, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Birkestrand and Mrs. Everett Twit, of Cambridge; Mr. and Mrs. Ben Anfinson and Bernard of Huxley, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Hokel and family of Slater, and a number of relatives and friends of the family from the neighboring towns.
