Mrs. Essie B. Fitzgerald,
85, 2227 NW Brickyard Road, died Thursday in a convalescent home in Osage City after a short illness. She was born November 4, 1887 near Gorham and had lived in Topeka since 1908.

She attended Strickler's Business College her and was a member of First Church of Christ Scientist. She was a member of the mother church of the First Church of Christ Scientist in Boston.

She was a 50-year member of Topeka Chapter No. 462. Order of Eastern Star, Topeka Women's Club, Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War, and a charter member of Lady Sheridan Tent No. 30. She had been a team captain of the Fitzgerald team for 14 years at the Women's Club and was a 50-year member and past president of Topeka Flower Lovers Club.

She was married November 9, 1910 to Edward A. Fitzgerald in Topeka. He died September of 1944.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Mary Patricia Forbis, at the home, and a brother, Kent B. Logan, Topeka.

Services will be Saturday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home with burial in Mount Hope Cemetery.
