Funeral services were held for George Sukup Sr., 95, of Verdigre, Saturday, Jan. 10, 1981 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church at Verdigre. Fathers Battiato and Oborny officiated. Burial was at the parish cemetery.

George was born July 11, 1885 to Andrew and Mary Sedivy Sukup at Walnut. He died Wednesday, Jan, 7, 1981 at the age of 95 years, five months and twenty-six days at the Lundberg Memorial Hospital at Creighton.

As a youth he attended District 25 (Lone Star School) and Wayne State College for one term. On June 30, 1914 he married Clara Wagner at Creighton at St. Ludger Church. To this union were born four sons and two daughters. He and his wife farmed southwest of Verdigre all their lives. On Mar. 26, 1932 his wife, Clara, passed away.

His survivors include two sons, George L. Jr. and Marvin, both of Winnetoon; two daughters, Mrs. John (Mary Ann) Wrede of Greeley, Mrs. Reynold (Evelyn) Fuchtman of Creighton; a brother, Lawrence of Verdigre; three sisters, Mrs. Joe (Emma) Jelinek and Mrs. Lewis (Laurie) Frank, both of Verdigre and Mrs. Maurice (Martha) Dwinell of Creighton; 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Clara; two infant sons; five brothers, Joseph, John, Andrew, Albert and Henry and two sisters, Mrs. Ben (Clara) Tikalsky and Mrs. Joseph (Frances) Skokan.
