FAYETTEVILLE - Mrs. Mabel Peterson Powell, 83, of Fayetteville, passed away Friday, June 22, 2012, in Carroll S. Roberson Hospice Center, surrounded by her loving family. She was a retired employee of Fayetteville Publishing Co. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 24, 2012, in Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home chapel, with the Rev. Archie Barringer officiating. Burial will follow in Cumberland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. today, Sunday, June 24, 2012, at the funeral home, or at other times at 1929 River Road, Fayetteville. Mrs. Powell was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jasper David "Jack" Powell Sr. She is survived by her four sons, William Terry Powell Sr. and his wife, Donna, of Fayetteville, Jasper David Powell Jr. and his wife, Cheri, of Columbia, S.C., Richard K. Powell and his wife, Betty, of Fayetteville, and John Kevin Powell and his wife, Deborah, of Fayetteville; two daughters, Donna P. Smith of Roseboro, and June P. Biggs and her husband, Scotty, of Fayetteville; two sisters, Kathleen Hillinch of Chesapeake, Va., and Hettie Naylor of Greensboro; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Services entrusted to Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home of Fayetteville.
