Grover Leon Stapleton, 69, died in the Holston Valley Community Hospital Thurs. following a lingering illness. He was a member of the Free Hill Baptist Church, the Stuart Chapel Masonic Lodge and was a well-known Russell county farmer. Survivors include his wife, Mr. Daisy Fleenor Stapleton; mother, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth (Mollie) Stapleton, Lebanon; one son, Raymond Stapleton, Kingsport, Tenn.; one foster daughter, Mrs. Louise Mays Maxfield, Lebanon; four brothers, Oakley Stapleton, Dublin, Va., Roy Stapleton, Henry Stapleton, Marzell Stapleton, all of Kingsport; three sisters, Mrs. Jack (Nellie Kate) Glenn, Mrs. Dave (Viola) Salyers and Mrs. Claude (Ollie) Osborne, all of Lebanon; two grandchildren. Lebanon Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Funeral services was conducted at 2 p.m. Sat. from Free Hill Baptist Church near Nickelsville, Va. with the Rev. Kenneth Shearer and the Rev. Giles Cross officiating. Burial was in Cumbow Family Cemetery, Route 3, Lebanon, with Masonic graveside rites by Stuart Chapel Masonic Lodge. Masons served as pallbearers.
