Ellen was born in a small town built by Henry Ford for his factory workers. This town was surrounded by the City of Detroit.
She was raised in a tenement building that her parents were the caretakers of, so the family was close knit. Most when they grew up lived in the two and three room apartments off and on.
Ellen met Raymond D Brindley and they married when she was fourteen. To this marriage they had their first child, a daughter Ellen, was born when Ellen was seventeen and two years later she had her son Raymond.
Like many young marriages this one ended in divorce. She worked for awhile as a sales clerk at Forms, then went on to work as a dispatcher for the cab co. During this time she married a few times. She finally met the man she would be with until she passed. They met at a factory where he made brass fittings and she was a inspector. They married in 1958.
Her son was raised by a Aunt in Tennessee and New Mexico for a few years and then raised by her mother until he was sixteen. Ellen's daughter was raised by her
