[Numa Breaux was the 2nd husband of Marie Edmay (Guilbeau) Herpin Breaux]Arthur Onezime Guibeau was born on October 3, 1846 in St. Landry Parish, Louisiana. He was christened in the Catholic Church at Grand Coteau in St. Landry parish. His parents were Onezime Guilbeau and Azelie Castille. Arthur's father died when he was quite young and his mother re-married. She was young and needed a husband; and she had two young children, Idalie and Arthur, who needed a father. She married a wealthy planter, Don Louis Broussard in 1848 and Arthur grew up in a large step-family.

As talk of war grew, Arthur was interested in keeping his homeland safe. He joined the Confederate forces and rendered his service as a soldier. He served in Company K, 2nd Regiment, Louisiana Reserve Corps. The record of his service is mostly lost, but one card remains that states that he was surrendered as a prisoner of war on May 26, 1865 and was paroled on June 17, 1865 at Washington, Louisiana. It also said that was his residence was Lafayette Parish, Louisiana.

Following the war years, Arthur returned home and married Felicianne Foreman, the daughter of Lafayette Onezime Foreman and Marie Duhon, Their wedding was first recorded at the Lafayette Court House on April 24, 1866 and then confirmed in a religious ceremony on the same day.

The couple set up housekeeping and started a family. They had eight children: Columbus, Rudolph, Marie Edmee', Leo, Rousseau, Rose, Aidee and Arthur, Jr. The family is listed on both the 1880 and 1900 census records of Lafayette Parish. The 1910 US Census lists them again where Arthur recorded his Confederate service.

Arthur and Felicianne made the town of Scott in Lafayette Parish as their home in their later years. She apparently died sometime between 1910 and 1922. When Arthur died on June 20, 1922 he was listed as a widower. They are both buried in Scott, Louisiana in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery.
