Of Parma, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, September 20, 2011, age 65. He was born on September 24, 1945 to the late Gordon and Gertrude Foster in Mitchell, SD. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sharon; daughters, Dawn (Ryan) Berkaw of DeWitt, MI and Gina (Brian) Frederick of Jackson, MI and one grandson, Jared Berkaw. He is also survived by two sisters and one brother, Eulyla Foster of Fulton, SD, Marlene (Dave) Helsel of Dexter, KS and Arlen (Cindy) Foster of Fulton, SD; as well as mother-in-law, Neva Dexter, brother-in-law, Warren T. (Myrt) Dexter; and sister-in-law, Betty (Steve) Johnson, all of Spring Arbor; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Welby graduated in 1963 from Plano High School in Plano, SD and from Spring Arbor College in 1967 with a degree in secondary education, psychology and math. He taught math in the Northwest School District for 26 years, owned and operated Foster Tax & Financial Services for over 25 years and counseled with Educators Preferred Corporation as a retirement counselor for 10 years. He was a lifelong John Deere enthusiast and hobby farmer and greatly enjoyed restoring and collecting John Deere tractors and memorabilia. Welby was a loving husband, wonderful father, adoring grandfather and caring friend to many. He was a very honest and honorable man with a wonderful sense of humor, and although he had a quiet spirit, he was always one of the first to befriend and help others. Welby struggled with Alzheimer's Disease and was wonderfully cared for by the staff of The Willows at Spring Arbor Assisted Living facility for the past four months. The funeral service will be held at Spring Arbor Free Methodist Church on Saturday, September 24 at 1:30 p.m. with the Reverend Daryl Dexter and the Reverend Earl Habecker officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Spring Arbor Free Methodist Church Benevolent Fund or the Spring Arbor Nazarene Church Benevolent Fund
