Received the following from Contributor "MCarroll", not sure of the Source:

"Robert Kirk and his older sister Janet Kirk died in January 1880 of Diphtheria. They were buried on the same day at Fort Herriman. Their parents William and Jane Hendrie Kirk alone buried them at night, as all were so frightened of that dreaded disease.
