Mrs. Mary Alice Mayfield
Mrs. Mary Alice Mayfield, the widow of the late John Mayfield, early day and long time resident of Slater passed away at the home of her son, John P. Mayfield, in Kansas City, Mo., Sat. night, May 25 at the aged of 85 years, 5 months and 9 days. The remains were brought to Slater on Alton Train No. 20, this Wednesday, morning and taken to the Hill Brothers Funeral Home and interment will be made in the Slater City Cemetery with graveside services being conducted by Rev. Lynn T. Richardson at 2 o'clock. Mrs. Mayfield is survived by four sons Orville J. and John P. Mayfield of the home, Joseph Steven and William Henry Mayfield of California and one daughter Mrs. Mattie Phillips of St. Joseph Mo., in addition to ten grandchildren, seven of whom were reared in her home; one brother, James Dennis of Hale Mo. and three sisters, Angie Deffenbaugh of Eldon Mo. Mrs. Alma Mullis and Myrtle Skinner of Kansas City. Mrs. Mayfield will be well remembered by the old time residents of Slater and had many friends here who will regret to hear of her death.
