Veta M. Mahon, 80 of Moncks Corner, S.C.,formerly of Decatur, passed away Saturday, June 14, 2003 in Moncks Corner. Services celebrating her life will be 2 pm Thursday in J. J. Moran & Sons funeral home with the Rev. Stan Haxion officiating. Visitation will be 6 to 8 pm Wednesday. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery. Memorials: DMH Home Health & Hospice Services or St. Mary's hospital.
Veta was born March 12, 1923 in Decatur, the daughter of Jesse Sr. and *Jennie Ditty. She was a Carson Pirie Scott & Co. sales clerk and a member of Third United Methodist church of Decatur.
She married Charles E. Mahon on Oct. 1946. He preceded her in death. Surviving are her son, Mark Mahon of Colorado Springs, Colo., daughters, Lynne Netterville and husband, Louis of Moncks Corner, Karen Netterville and husband, Carl of Ozark, La., Nina Rae Cowgill and husband, Joe of Williston, N.D., brother, Jesse Ditty Sr. and wife, Mary of Decatur, sister-in-law, Kathryn Ditty of Decatur, nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, one sister and one granddaughter

*Jennie May Richards Ditty is Jesse Ditty Sr’s second wife and they didn’t have any children together. Jennie was the stepmother to all the children from Jesse’s first wife Bertha.
