Highly Respected Freeport Retired Farmer Dies December 14th
Funeral Saturday
The death of Henry H Beste, Sr. a prominent and highly respected citizen of Freeport community occurred at his home there last Thursday, December 24 at 1:10 A.M. The cause of death was heart trouble, with which he was seriously ill for two months.
The funeral was held at the Sacred Heart church at Freeport at 9:30 o'clock Saturday morning. Rev. Ulric Beste, O.S.B., nephew of the deceased of St. John's sang a solemn requiem, assisted by Rev. Father Maurus, O.S.B. of Freeport, and Father Benedict, O.S.B. of St. John's. The pallbearers were: Wm Beste, Joseph Beste, Anton Beste, John woeste, Victor Woeste and Henry Illies. Conrad Beste was crossbearer.
Henry H. Beste was born at Oakdale, Minn. on May 13, 1863 and was past 70 years of age at his death. At the age of 25 years he came to Freeport and purchased the old Frank Benolken homestead which he farmed until a year ago when he retired and resided in the village of Freeport. He married to Anna Woeste at Meire Grove April 10, 1888.
The wife and following children survived: Mrs Gerhard Kork, Greenwald; Ven Sister Agathona, Chicago; Ven Sisters Humilitas and Ludawica, Milwaukee; Mrs. A. Schulte, Freeport; Leo, Melrose; Edward, St. Paul; Otto, Henry, Freeport; Mrs. A Rademacher, Elrosa; Oswald and Jerome at home. A daughter Dorothy died in 1924. There are 19 grandchildren.
The following brothers and sisters also survive: Conrad, Sauk Centre; William, St. Paul; Nick, Brainerd; Joseph, Sauk Centre; Anton, Freeport; Mrs. Barbara Rindfleisch, St. Paul; Mrs. Elizabeth Schweigel, River Falls, Wis.; Mrs. Mary Schmitz, Seattle Wash.
The deceased was a member of the St. Joseph and Hold Name Societies of the Freeport parish.
