OBITUARY OF MRS. HENRY BESTE SR.
Solemn Requiem Held at the Sacred Heart Church at Freeport Saturday Morning.
The funeral of Mrs. Henry H. Beste, Sr. whose death occurred Wednesday, October 20th, was held at the Sacred Heart Catholic church at Freeport Saturday morning at 9:30 o'clock the pastor Rev. Father Paul O.S.B. officiating at a solemn requiem, assisted by Father Luke O.S.B. of Albany and Father Schwinghammer of Melrose.
Four sons and two son-in-laws were the pallbearers; Leo, Edward, Jerome, and Henry Beste, Gerhard Korf and Anton Rademacher. Mrs Josephine Schulte was cross bearer and the honorary pallbearers were Mrs. Mike Schlicht, Mrs J. Borgerding, Mrs. Hubert Thelen, Mrs Barbara Harren, Mrs. Benedict Hoeschen and Mrs. Jos. Warneke. The deceased was a member of the St. Anne Society.
Mrs. Beste's maiden name was Anna Mathilda Woeste and she was born at Meire grove on January 9, 1869 being 68 years, 9 months, and 11 days old at her death. She married Henry H. Beste there on April 10, 1887 and they went to live on a farm a half mile east of the village of Freeport and this was their home until four years ago when they retired from the farm and moved to the village. Mr. Beste died in December 1934.
Mrs. Beste's death occurred at the home of her daughter Mrs. Anton Schulte at 4:30 o'clock A.M. on Wednesday October 20th, after a two months illness with carcinoma of the liver.
The following children survive: Agathona Beste of Chicago, Ill., Mrs. Gerhard Korf of Greenwald, Mrs. Anton Schulte, Henry A. Beste and Jerome, Freeport, Leo Beste of Melrose, Edward Beste of St. Paul, Mrs. Anton Rademacher of Elrosa, and Ven. Sisters Humilitas and Ludawica, O.S.F. of Milwaukee, Wis.
The following brothers and sisters also survive: Rt. Rev. Msgr. Anthony B. Woeste of Harvey, N. D. Mrs. Henry Illies and John and Victor Woeste of Meire Grove, and Mrs. Wm. Beste of St. Paul. There are 26 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
