Funeral services were held here yesterday, Wednesday, for Mrs. Ben Mead, who died at Memorial hospital Friday, April 10. Services were held at First Congregational church, Rev. R. R. Klein, pastor, officiating.
Burial was made in Prospect Hill cemetery with Lee's in charge. Pallbearers were Allen Spencer, Wilbur Wilson, Walter Olson, Jerry Nash, Kurt Schwartz and R.A. Butz.
Neva Lorena Voorhees was born August 26, 1899 to Duane and Millie Voorhees in Jerauld County, SD. She received her education in Wessington Springs, this city being her home all her life.
On December 24, 1917, she was united in marriage to Charles B. Mead, to which union two daughters were born.
Surviving besides the husband and two children, Theone (Mrs Robert C. Whitlock), Longview, Wa and Caryol (Mrs. Curtis L. Weber) of near Miller; are her father, Duane Voorhees of this city; three sisters: Mrs. E. E. Brown, Stockton, Calif; Mrs. Oda Ocean, Harlan, Ia; and Mrs. Grace Lent, Wilmar, Calif; two brothers, Dwight Voorhees, Lodi, NJ and Claude Voorhees, Bakersfield, Calif.
There are four grandchildren: Dixie and Violet Whitlock, Darwin and Wayne Weber.
Her mother and one grandchild preceded her in death.
