George R. Wilburn, 70, of Coldwater, Michigan died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2000, in the Community Health Center of Branch County. He was born Feb. 27, 1929, in Georgetown, Ky., to Raymond and Cecil (Wright) Wilburn and worked as a truck driver for Alchem Aluminum in Coldwater. He married Beatrice Young in i960 in Coldwater. She survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Mechele Van Vorst of Bronson, Michigan; five grandchildren; brothers, William Lee Wilburn and Bobby Gene Wilburn; and sisters, Noritta Smith, Alice Peck, Eula Patterson, Clara Padgett, Lucille Hager, Millie Foley, Maryjo Williams and Ruby Peak. He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters. Community involvement; hobbies: Loved hunting and his beagle dogs. Visitation: 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Putnam Funeral Home, Coldwater. Services: 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will take place in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Coldwater. Memorials: American Cancer Society.
