She was born July 4, 1954 in Pittsburg, KS the daughter of Charles Kenneth and Joann C. Vacca Velia. She had been a resident of Springdale for 20 years, and previously lived in Parsons, KS and West Mineral, KS.
She was a graduate of Labette County Community College in Parsons, KS.
Ms. Smith was a Radiology Technologist at the Mana Clinics in Springdale, Arkansas.
Survivors include a sister Vickie J. Norris and her husband Paul of Pittsburg, KS; a brother Charlie W. Velia and his wife Stacey of Arma; two nieces Abbie Osborn and her husband Todd, Kimberly Jo Dent and her husband Andy, one nephew Brett Norris, two great nephews and two great nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be 7 pm Saturday at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, 522 S. Broadway in Pittsburg, KS with Father Thomas Stroot, officiating.
Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery in Pittsburg, KS.
The family will receive friends following services at the funeral home.
The family suggests expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorials to help with final expenses.
