Max Zufall, 97; of New Albany

Funeral service celebrating the life of Max Zufall, 97, of New Albany, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 29, at Seabrook Dieckmann & Naville Funeral Homes, Oak Street Chapel, New Albany, with burial in Walnut Ridge Cemetery, Jeffersonville. He died Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services.

He was born in New Albany and was an Air Force Veteran of World War II where he served as a B17 Pilot and was shot down and was a prisoner of war for a year. He was a Squadron Commander in the reserve and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. He was a retired florist from the old Rasmussen Florist after 42 years of service. He was a flight instructor for Haps Aeriel Enterprises for more than 20 years and was a member of the Lions Club and Central Christian Church.

Survivors include his son, Michael Zufall and his wife, Jane; his daughter, Martha "Marty" Crane (Phil Guerin); and two granddaughters, Elana Crane and her husband, George, and Teresa Crane.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret L. Zufall.
