JOHN R. THOMAS, 68, of Memphis, retired Air Force veteran and mechanic for GE Lamp Co., died Sunday at St. Francis Hospital after a short illness. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Forest Hill Funeral Home East with burial in Forest Hill Cemetery East. He was a member of St. James United Methodist Church. Mr. Thomas, the husband of Nancy Thomas, also leaves a son, Alan Robert Thomas of Memphis; six sisters, Edith W. Smock of North Manchester, Ind., Pearl Strickland of East Troy, Wis., Vada Kunath of Golconda, Ill., Stella Trehey of Joliet, Ill., Ruth Bartoh of Sterling, Ill., and Susie Soper of Raleigh, Ill., and a brother, Wayne Thomas of Old Hickory, Tenn. The family requests any memorials be sent to the American Cancer society.
