He graduated from Pendleton High School and attended Purdue University, prior to enlisting in the Army Air Corps in January of 1942, where he served for the duration of the war. He obtained formal education in photography at the Winona Institute.
Bob retired as a self-employed photographer after 60-plus years.
He was a member of The Indiana Professional Photographers Association, Boy Scouts of America, the Anderson Noon Exchange Club, and the First United Methodist Church. He also enjoyed working with electronics.
Bob is survived by his loving spouse of 68 years, Marjorie (Lawhead) Dyer, son, James A. and wife Margie Dyer of Dripping Springs, Texas, daughter, Janet S. and husband David Gott of Sandusky, Ohio, and son, Jeffrey L. and wife Penny Dyer of Anderson. Nine grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John B. and Alice C. Dyer; and brothers, Jack, Ted, and Hib Dyer.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 31, 2012, from 11 a.m. to l p.m., at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 W. 53rd St., Anderson, prior to the service immediately following at 1 p.m., with Pastor Bill Mathys officiating.
Burial will take place in the Friends Cemetery, Pendleton.
Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, Anderson.
