John Loundagin was born in Ireland 1795. He was an only child and lost his mother at an early age but soon had a step mother who worshiped the boy and pampered his every whim.At the age of sixteen adventure entered his young life and he took advantage of a disagreement with his father and ran away from home. Aboard his uncles ship he sailed for America.In Tennessee he met a girl of German decent, Susan Lochmiller, born in 1792. They were married and to this union eight children were born. He moved with his family to Arkansas where the family grew up and married. Still Arkansas is considered the home state.The children were: Mary Ann (Mitchell), William, Margaret (Abercrumby), John, George, Susan (died at age of ten), Matilda (Roberts) and Robert.Margaret and Matilda died in their thirties, it was said of these women, they were martyrs of the Civil War, when their husbands were called they carried on the farming, working in the field which resulted in broken health and finally death. They left four small children.William and Mary Ann lived and died in Arkansas, Mary raised a family of ten. Lizzie, Mary Ann, Lacna, Zac, George, Handerson, William, Henry, Mark, and Frank.William raised a family of fourteen, Susan, Lizzie, Mary, Jana, Ralls, Ellen, Amanda, John Henry, George, Robert, .Starling, Zack, and Dack.Margaret (Abercrumby) had four children, Matilda, Mary, Fanny and John.John (Jack) never married.George raised a family of fourteen, William Jackson, Isaac Newton, Robert Washington, Eva Idells, John B., Mary Elizabeth, Olive Annette, Minnie May, James Oliver, Alvin George, Rebecca Jane, Cora Belle, Losson Aaron, and Maude Myrtle.Matilda (Robarts) had four children, Mary, Sarah, John, and Emanuel.Robert had nine children, the first two died in infancy, William Henry and Emma Lee. Sarah Margaret, Mary Ann, Alice Jana, Albert James, John Franklin, Robert Alexandar, Frederick Garland.John (Jack) and Bob were drafted in the Civil War. Bob on the side of the North and Jack on the side of the South. Jack finally deserted and found his way home.George suffering rheumatism was not drafted and he joined the Emigrant train of 61
