Mrs. Collins was a lifetime member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, where she served on various committees. She taught children in Sunday School and helped with Vacation Bible School for many years. She faithfully worked in the feeding ministry, where she ministered to the elderly and the needy. She faithfully donated to many missions and causes. She will always be remembered for her strong faith and dedication to her Lord, her family and her church family. She had a servant's attitude, a sense of humor and a joyful and encouraging spirit. Other memberships include: Lower Somerset County AARP, where she served as secretary, the "WWJD" Bible study group, and the "Laughing Ladies Club." She worked part time with Country Sun Rooms as a greeter. She loved to travel and most recently went on an Alaskan Cruise and also to Michigan. She worked with her husband and son in wood crafts and most recently she enjoyed entering her can goods in county fairs. She loved her grandchildren and faithfully supported them by attending their many activities and events. She lived life to its fullest.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by two children: Lance E. Collins and wife, Susan of Hebron and Janet Batchelder and husband Robert of Hebron; four grandchildren: Kari and Phillip Collins and Megan and Ryan Batchelder; and a nephew, Robin Johnson. She was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Allen "RT" Taylor.
A funeral service will be held Friday, October 15, 2004 at 11 AM, at Holloway Funeral Home. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 7 to 9 PM and one hour prior to the service. Rev. William B. Cropper will officiate. Interment will be in Hebron Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Lazarus Fund, PO Box 29, Hebron, MD 21830.
