Darrell Dean Nichols

SHERMAN - Memorial service for Darrell Dean Nichols, 75, will be held at 1 p.m Thursday, June 13, 2013 at at Jubilee Fellowship Church, 5525 N. Travis St. in Sherman. Darrell will be interred at 12:30 p.m June 11, 2013 n Arlington National Cemetery.

Darrell was born in 1938 in Indianola, Neb., to Arthur Lee Nichols and Vera Venita (Barr) Nichols. He attended schools in Morrill, Nebr. He loved the Lord and served Him most of his life introducing many to Jesus throughout his lifetime. He joined the Navy in 1956 to 1960 and sang in the Navy Blue Jackets Choir as a baritone and was honorably discharged. He was a heavy equipment operator most of his life and operated Cranes the last 35 years of his life. He loved life and people and never knew a stranger and people liked him.

He is the 10th child of 11 children and is survived by his wife, Colleen Peggy (Trute) Nichols; one sister, Delila M. Nichols, 90 years old in Hoquiam, Wash.; three daughters, Rachel J. Nichols of Aztec, N.M., Michelle (Nichols) Perry and son-in-law Dan Perry of Thermopolis, Wyo., Beth M. (Nichols) Benavidez of Thermopolis, Wyo.; four grandsons, one granddaughter; three great-granddaughters, two great-grandsons; one great-greatgranddaughter who will be born sometime in August 2013; and two stepdaughters, Sheri (McIntosh) Hancock and husband Doug, Shelly (McIntosh) Finney and husband Michail, and four step-granddaughters of Pitt Meadows,British Columbia Canada; mother-in-law Margaret Mary Wallis, 88 years old; five sisters-in-law and their husbands.

He was preceded in death by eight brothers, one sister and his parents. He liked to whittle and carve, visit with friends, shoot trap and targets, sing and fly small, noncommercial planes.
