Brianna Graves, 24, of Slaton was born in Lubbock on Dec. 1, 1988. She passed from this life June 13, 2013. Brianna was a life-long resident of Slaton. She was an honor graduate of Slaton High School Class of 2007. She was recognized as Who's Who in the National Honor Society. At the time of graduation, Brianna had completed AP courses and was classified as a college sophomore through South Plains College. In her youth she was an outstanding athlete until the fourth grade. In April of 1988 she was diagnosed with Gorham's Disease. As the disease advanced she became a quadriplegic in 2005. She was the Lubbock Regional Children's Miracle Network Poster Child from 2000 until 2003. She was also recognized as First Runner Up State Children's Miracle Network Poster Child. She was a spokesperson for the Interim Health Care Foundation which provided her a home of her own in April, 2012. Her optimism and spirit inspired everyone. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Jerry Graves, and her paternal great-grandfather, Barron Graves. Those left to cherish her memory are her mother, Lorrie Graves and fianc Wendell Reilman of Pampa; father and stepmother, Ty and Valerie Graves; sister, Krista Graves; step-brother, Aaron Griffith, all of Lubbock; maternal grandparents, Jim and Esther Torres of Slaton; paternal grandmother, Evelyn Graves of Lubbock; paternal great-grandmother, Myrlee Graves of Slaton; maternal step-grandparents, Sandra and Jack Moss of Lubbock; and a host of other family and friends. The family suggests memorials to the Brianna Graves Special Memorial Fund, at Santa Fe Caprock Credit Union, P.O. Box 100 Slaton, TX 79364. A family visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday, June 17, 2013 from 6 to 7 p.m.
