MRS. J. D. BELLIS DIES
Alice Lucretia Shoemaker was born near Ft. Wayne, Indiana, October 25, 1853 and passed away at her home near Castana, October 3, 1927, at the age of 73 years, 11 months, and 8 days. At the age of 3 years she moved with her parents to Page County, Iowa, where she grew to womanhood. She was united in marriage to J. D. Bellis, February 9, 1870 and to this union three children were born.
The first 33 years of their married live was spent near Essex, Iowa. From there they moved to mono County and settled near Moorhead, where they resided for 13 years moving from there in 1916 to Astana which has since been their home.
She accepted Christ as her Savior on February 1896 and united with the Presbyterian Church at Essex. Moving to Moorhead she became a member of the Christian Church where she has since remained a faithful member.
She leaves to mourn her loss, her aged husband, J. D. Bellis; two sons and one daughter, John Bellis of Mitchell, South Dakota, Joseph Bellis of Sioux City, and Mrs Pearson of Astana; three granddaughters, Grace Schaefer of Redfield, South Dakota; Alice and Marjorie Bellis of Sioux City; also four sisters and one brother, Viola Spikes of Rondondo Beach, California; Martha Standstorm of Lomita, California; Ellen Ayres of Frederick, Oklahoma; Hulda Price of Lawton, Oklahoma; Frank Shoemaker of Coyle Oklahoma and a host of other relatives and friends.
