Dr. Julian L. Archer came from West Virginia and studied at Ohio University, Columbia, and NYU.. He was the Extension Director at Western Illinois University from 1933-1939, then the Head of the Extension Department from 1939-1946. He then led the Graduate Students from 1959 until his death in 1964. He had been with the school since the 1930's when he started as a professor of education.
