A. U. Streetman, Jr., 97, of Bryan, passed away Friday afternoon, June 21, 2013 at St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan.

Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, June 26 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station. Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday June 27 in the Arbor Oaks Chapel at Crestview Retirement Community, 2505 East Villa Maria in Bryan, with Chaplain Gary Adams officiating. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. at Bryan City Cemetery.

A. U. was born July 19, 1915 in Grapeland, Texas to Martha Elizabeth Chafin and Artis U. Streetman, Sr. He attended school in Grapeland and at the age of 18, he joined and served in the United States Army for 4 years. After the service, he returned home to his home and began his life as a businessman. He met the love of his life and married Estell Brimberry in July of 1939.

In 1951 A.U. and his family moved to Bryan, where he and his wife Estell began their careers as owner and operator of Streetman's Dairy Queens in Bryan, Hearne, and Cameron. They also owned and operated Streetman's Hamburger and Donut Shop in Bryan. In 1973, A.U. and his wife retired from the restaurant business and began raising cattle at their Streetman Ranch in Milam County. He was a member of the A&M Church of Christ in College Station.

A. U. was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Estell Streetman on February 19, 2000; one daughter Jeanette Munday; four brothers, Charles Mack Streetman, J.B. Streetman, Hill Streetman, and Pick Streetman; and one sister, Madge Barker.

A.U. was a wonderful father with a fantastic sense of humor. He was a kind fun-loving person who found fun and good in ordinary things and tasks. To his family and the ones who cared for him, he was "one of a kind".

He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Yvonne and Rex Kathcart of Richardson, Texas. and Donna and Steve Pipkin of Spring, Texas; one brother, Wade L. Streetman of Palestine, Texas; five grandchildren, Melissa Williamson, Kimberly Irwin, Kenneth R. Kathcart, Brian Pipkin, and Stephanie Ramirez; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous other family and friends.

Memorials may be made in memory of A.U. Streetman to the Crestview Retirement Community in Bryan.

The family would like to thank the Crestview Retirement Community and their staff for all of the love and care they gave to Mr. Streetman.
