Frank Walter Gracewski, 79, of Enfield, died peacefully on Friday, November 30, 2007. Born in the Thompsonville section of Enfield on October 5, 1928, Frank was the son of the late Waclaw and Wanda (Chmielewska) Gracewski. A lifelong resident of Enfield, Frank was a graduate of Enfield High School, Class of 1946 and a communicant of St. Adalbert Church. He was employed as a foreman with Pratt and Whitney and retired in 1990. He was previously employed with Bigelow Sanford Company. He was a member of the American Legion Maciolek Post 154, where he served on the Ambulance Committee. He was also the post historian and a member of its drum corps. Frank proudly served his country during WW II with the US Army as a Sergeant with the 19th Air Supply Squadron. Frank enjoyed golfing, basketball, bowling and playing cards. A loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law and uncle, Frank is survived by his beloved wife of fifty-six years, Alice M. (Pirog) Gracewski; his daughters, Lynn T. Congo and her husband David of West Springfield, MA and Dr. Sheryl M. Gracewski, PhD, and her significant other Tom Nash of Rochester, NY; his sister, Bertha W. Waleryszak and her husband Edwin of Ellington, five grandchildren, Lauren, Deanna, David, Jonathan and Timothy; four sisters-in-law, Julie Gracewski of East Lyme, Catherine Gracewski of Enfield, Beatrice Grace of Florida and Charlotte Bielski of Enfield and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brothers, Stephen, Alexander, Joseph and Thomas. Family and friends may gather on Monday, December 3, 2007 by 9:00 a.m. at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels for a procession to St. Adalbert Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. A private burial in St. Adalbert Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family. Frank's family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, December 2, 2007 from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m. at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either St. Adalbert Church or John Maciolek Post Ambulance Fund.
