Son of Anson Bostwick and Lucinda Lane.

George was born in Underhill, but moved to Burlington at a young age. He owned a blacksmith shop at the corner of Pearl Street and Winooski avenue, and practiced his trade for more than 50 years. He served his community as alderman 1870 - 1871.
