While death always leaves sadness and heartaches in its wake, and casts a shadow of gloom over a community, it is more particularly pathetic when the fell-destroyer visits a home and takes from it one of the brightest members, as was the case in the death of Miss Hattie Demumbreun, which occurred last Wednesday morning at the home of her parents. Mr. and Mrs. J.F. Demumbreun near College Grove. Funeral services were conducted at the home at 4 o'clock Thursday evening by Mr. Cullom, the interment following in the family burying-ground. A large number of friends were present and loving hands laid flowers on the tomb of their friend, who, though lost to them, is still fondly cherished in memory, and whose life was one of sweet simplicity abounding in noble deeds and acts of kindness. She was in the 29th year of her age and had been a sufferer for some time before her death. Her presence at Wesley's Chapel, where she had been organist for several years, will be sadly missed, and her loss felt throughout the entire community. Besides the father and mother, four brothers and one sister survive.
