MELVERN - Vernon Russell Garvin, 56, Melvern, died Friday in an Ottawa hospital where he was admitted Thursday. He had cancer. He was born Dec. 26, 1915 at Quenemo and spent his life in the Quenemo and Rosemont communities in Osage County.
He was an Army veteran of World War II, having served in the 382nd Infantry from 1943 to 1946. He was a farmer and stockman.
Services will be Monday in the Methodist Church in the Rosemont community east of Melvern with burial in Pleasant View Cemetery east of Melvern in Osage County.
