COLUMBUS -- Joan Baumert, a beautiful and elegant lady, died Monday, June 24, 2013, at Morys Haven in Columbus. She had struggled with Parkinson's disease for several years with grace and dignity.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, June 28, 2013, at 2 p.m. at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church with Father Tim Forget celebrating the Mass. Interment will be in the St Bonaventure Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at the Gass Haney Funeral Home with a vigil service at 7 p.m.
Joan would wish for any memorials to be made to St. Bonaventure Catholic Church, where she was a lifelong member.
Joan was born November 20, 1930, to Joseph and Dorothy (Sturek) Fischer, in Columbus, and lived her entire life in the town of her birth. Joan attended Saint Bonaventure Catholic High School. After graduation, Joan went to work at Dale Electronics, where she was employed for over 47 years until her retirement in 1997. She enjoyed a long and satisfying career as assistant to several presidents at Dale/Vishay. Joan was an avid bridge player and enjoyed golf, bowling, traveling, and enjoyed going to Nebraska football games.
Joan is survived by her daughter, Linda Ostrander, and her husband, Jeff, of Charlotte, N.C.; sister, Gloria Schaecher, of Monroe, Ohio; sister, Fran Schultz, of Fort Worth Texas; sister-in- law, Karla Baumert, of Columbus; sister-in-law, Evelyn Baumert, of Omaha; sister-in-law, Shirley Fischer, of Lincoln; sister-in-law, Pat Baumert, of Lincoln; devoted special friend, Charles Gray, of Columbus; and many nieces and nephews.
