Jenny was born in the United Stated after her parents, Esterino and Domenica (Forgione) Matarazzo immigrated from Italy. She was raised in New Jersey and then joined the Army. She met and married Army Master Sgt. John Emery Shaffer while stationed in Germany during WWII. They had two daughters. He was killed while on active duty in Japan in 1950. Jenny eventually moved to Florida, and raised their two daughters by herself and never remarried. She was a strong, loving, kind and gentle woman. She enjoyed life, always helped others, and most of all .. .loved her two daughters with pride.
