A heartfelt thank you to M Richards for her kind sponsorship of my wonderful
father in law Ray. Those of us that love Pappy are very grateful for your kindness.

Ray was 18 months old when his mother Lula passed away.
With a father that was running the family farm and working for his father in law Joseph Wolfe on the telephone lines being put in across Tn. & Ky Ray needed someone to take care of him and his sister and brothers.
His grandmother Susan James Wolfe came to take the place of her daughter caring for the children she left behind with her passing. His grand mother stayed on taking care of the children, and house until Rays father remarried.

After a time Ray went to stay with his great grandfather John Wesley James a Civil War veteran and his wife Winnie Buck James.

Ray was mesmerized by all the tales the old man told many stories about the battles of the war. Stories of Frank and Jesse James and their fine horses.

Ray said the great grandpa would put on his Civil War uniform march with his rifle over his shoulder, march back and forth on the porch reciting the names of every one in his unit when he came to his name he would stomp his feet and say John James that's me.

His great grandpa would put the uniform on and head to Smithville and go pick up his pension check. How he loved these days.

Ray and his 1st wife Ellen Marie McCaw were married on November 13,1939 in Lucas County, Ohio. Their children are,

1.Ellen Marie Brindley born(1942-)Highland Park ,Wayne County, Michigan
2.Raymond Dewey Brindley Jr. born(1944-)Highland Park, Wayne County, Michigan

2.Nancy Brindley born (1951-)Silver City,Grant County, New Mexico.
3.Blanche Delores Brindley born (1954-)Silver City, Grant County, New Mexico

PFC Raymond D. Brindley Sr. served with the 4th Army Air Corps ENGR during World War II. He received a Honorable Discharge on December 15,1945 (Demobilization).

He worked most of his life as a machinist for the Kennecott Corp. He retired from the company 1982. He served as the President of the Local Machinist Union.

Ray enjoyed hunting and fishing, something he was very good at and managed to keep his family fed through long strikes.

Thank you in advance to those of you that leave tokens for our Pappy,
