PIONEER LOCAL MAN DIES HERE THIS MORNING

W. K. Duncan, Resident of Ruston For Nearly Half Century Buried Today

William Kidd Duncan, 70 years old a member of Duncan and Kidd Insurance agency, and a pioneer resident of Ruston, died at his home here this morning at 3:30 o'clock following an illness of several months. Mr. Duncan was born in Vernon, former capital of Jackson parish, and was educated in the school there and the Louisiana State University. When a young man he went to Old Trenton, Ouachita parish, where he was employed for several years by Kidd and Lewis, prominent merchants there, who later moved to Ruston. In 1884 Mr. Duncan came to Ruston where he has lived continuously since, having been engaged in the insurance business for the past thirty years.

Mr. Duncan was married to Miss Lucy Morris of Vernon, and to this union were born three sons, Ben M. of Texarkana, Texas; Aylmer D., of Oakland, California; and William K. Jr., of Atlanta, Georgia, all of whom survive him.

The deceased was a member of the Methodist church and for a number of years was an active member of the Masonic lodge. He was an upright man with a gentle disposition and ever stood for the progressiveness of his home community.

Funeral services will be conducted at the family residence here this afternoon at 5:30 o'clock with Reverend R. W. Vaughan, in charge. Interment will follow in Greenwood cemetery under the direction of B. F. McLure Undertaking company.

Pallbearers will be Dr. J. W. Thurman, J. D. Holland, W. F. Pearce, J. M. Sims, Abe Harris and John T. Gullatt.

*W. K. Duncan's grandson, Raymond Morris Duncan predeceased him in March 1930 after suffering severe burns in December 1929.
