Sylvester K., son of John K. and Catherine Sullivan Witter, was born October 11, 1860 and died January 1, 1944. When he was about 18 years old his father died. On October 10, 1886, he married Jennie Crews, daughter of Hooper Crews. They had two sons, John dying in infancy and Frank, of Chicago. On April 15, 1891 his wife died. On March 24, 1895 he married Della Shewmake. They had six children: George and Chester of Jasper township, Lorena Miller and Blanche Loescher of Irvington, and Lucille of Chicago. One daughter, Elsie, died at the age of 3. He also leaves one brother, Grant, of Fairfield and four sisters, Nancy Brown and Mrs. Logan Matthews of Fairfield, Mattie Essington of Cifton and Alice Stewart of San Jose, California.
