He was born at High Knob on December 17, 1924 a son of the late William A Eubank & Ella Nora Arthur (Hines) Eubank.
Charles completed his 8 years of elementary education at the High Knob Grade School. He was a US Navy veteran and proudly served and defended his country during WWII from May 1944 to May 1946. He worked for the WV Dept. of Highways for 19 years and retired in May 1988.
Charles was the last surviving member of his parent's three families. On November 4, 1946, he married Ruby J Harper at Oakland, Maryland. He was blessed with her love for 66 years, until her passing on Sunday, November 18, 2012.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by his siblings from his father's first family, Mrs. Rosa Hickman, Mrs. Bertha Armstrong, Mrs. Mary Thompson, Mrs. Willa Hutchison, Mrs. Gladys Thompson, Bessie Eubank, Lloyd, Russell, Oley and Bishop Eubank; siblings from his mother's first family, Mrs. Clara Hosey, Mrs. Ethel Ward, Emmett Hines; twins: Charles Heaston and Issac Preston Hines; and his four immediate brothers, Paul, John, Gaylord, and Arthur Hayward Eubank.
Charles is survived by his 5 children, Nancy (Howard) McKay of Jane Lew; Harold (Barbara) Eubank of Jane Lew; Mary and Doris Eubank of High Knob; and Mitchell (Shirley and her family) Eubank of Flatwoods. He is also survived by his two grandchildren, Alisa Eubank of Jane Lew, and Jonathan (Cassie) Eubank of Weston; Two step-grandchildren, Steven (Cathy) McKay of Jane Lew, and Karen (Michael) Wilfong of West Milford; 3 step great grandchildren and 5 step-great-great-grandchildren, his special sister-in-law, Clara Mae Eubank of Heaters, his wife's 3 sisters and 5 brothers, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends and his dog Rex and grand-dog Cookie.
Charles loved his farm where he was born and grew-up and lived all of his life. He also loved his fruit trees, berries and flowers and would often tell people the name of each one. He enjoyed spending hours grafting, pruning and taking care of them. He was an avid reader all of his life, reading several hundreds of books, and spent many hours reading as his health deteriorated.
He enjoyed listening to country, bluegrass and gospel music and WVU ballgames-when they were winning. He was a Methodist.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday June 10, 2013 at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home, Sutton with the Rev. John McQuain officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Hebron Cemetery.
