Charlotte Patricia Nash Adamson, 83, of Fayetteville, Georgia passed away June 20, 2013.

Charlotte was born to the late Jewell and Hilda Nash, August 4, 1929 in Mountain View, Georgia.

Charlotte graduated from Hapeville High School in 1946 and Berry College in 1950 with a Bachelor of Arts in English.

She married Orestus Henry Adamson on December 21, 1952 and lived in Ellenwood, Georgia before relocating to Jonesboro, Georgia, then Fayetteville, Georgia.

Charlotte taught school in the Fulton County and DeKalb County School systems from 1950 to 1960. She also taught kindergarten at the Jonesboro Presbyterian Church from 1968 to 1971 and then became the secretary to Abraham H. Germain, M.D. until 1982.

Charlotte and her husband, O. H. Adamson, were very active in the business community of Clayton County having been in business on the corner of Highway 42 and Ellenwood Road for more than 60 years.

Charlotte was a very active member of the National Heights Baptist Church where she sang in the choir. She loved music, art, literature and theater, and was an avid history and family genealogy buff. She also loved to travel and watch the birds from the many windows of her home. Her greatest joy was her role as wife, mother and grandmother.

Charlotte is survived by her husband of 60 years, Orestus H. Adamson; her son Tim and daughter-in-law, Laura; her daughter, Jane Adamson-Merrill and son-in-law, Darren L. Merrill; her grandchildren, Brittany Bradford, Emma Adamson, Olivia Adamson and Jesse H. Merrill, III; her sister, Gloria Nash Holder; her brother was the late, J. Linwood Nash, Jr.; and she is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made out to National Heights Baptist Church in Fayetteville, Georgia.

The visitation will be held on Friday, June 21, 2013 from 5-8 p.m. at Thomas Scroggs Funeral Home on Lee Street in Morrow, Georgia. A service will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at 11 am at the chapel at the funeral home and the interment will be at the Morrow Cemetery immediately following the service.
