Nina J. Malmin, 80, of Wells, and formerly of Rushford, died on Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at the Albert Lea Medical Center in Albert Lea.

Nina was born on Jan. 4, 1933, in Preston to Charles and Anna (Matson) Barber. She was raised in the Preston and Harmony areas. Nina attended country school in rural Preston and loved riding her horse as a child. On Nov. 11, 1955, she married Herman Gullickson. Herman died on June 7, 1980. She married John McDonald on Dec. 20, 1980. John died on Jan. 17, 1998. On Aug. 19, 2006, Nina married Robert Malmin. Robert died on Dec. 26, 2009. In her spare time, Nina enjoyed reading, word search puzzles, gardening and house plants. She was a member of Whalan Lutheran Church.

Nina is survived by three daughters, Anna (Gary) Hankton and Sue (Gregg) Wegner, both of Wells, and Janette (Jim Lindstrom) Gullickson of Stillwater; five grandchildren, Chad (Kortney) Briggs, Laura Briggs, Jennifer (Joe) Briggs, Jessica (Nate) Briggs and Edward Hankton; two great-grandchildren, Damien Briggs and Carly Jergenson; and by a sister, Mary Waller of Chatfield.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three husbands, eight sisters and one brother.

The funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, June 17, 2013, at the Whalan Lutheran Church in Whalan with the Rev. Dan Watland officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Following the service, Nina's body will be cremated with burial of her cremated body in the Whalan Lutheran Cemetery at a later date.
