Charles W. "Chuck" Adkins, 77, passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2013. Funeral: 11 a.m. Saturday at Acton Baptist Church. Entombment: Greenwood Mausoleum. Charles was born Oct. 30, 1935, in Madill, Okla. He graduated from OSU. Charles retired as a major in the U.S. Air Force. He flew a KC-135 Stratotanker in Vietnam, where he had more than 300 combat missions, and the Cuban Missile Crisis. Charles was a dedicated family man and an avid golfer. He served as a deacon. Charles was a member of the Acton Baptist Church for 12 years. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn Stoner; one brother; and his three sisters. Survivors: Wife, Nancy Adkins; son, David Adkins; daughters, Peggy Bishop and Linda Metscher; brother, Frank Adkins and wife, Mardell; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
