Richard A. Eskam, 88, died June 18, 2013, at Presbyterian Manor of the Plains, Dodge City.


He was born on September 13, 1924, at Pawnee Rock, the son of Ernest and Mae (Dirks) Eskam.


Mr. Eskam lived his early years in Pawnee Rock before moving with his family to Copeland, where they spent several years. He later graduated from Cimarron High School, Cimarron.


He married Dora Ellen Staats on October 8, 1945 in Enid, Oklahoma. They lived in Cimarron all their married lives. She preceded him in death on July 24, 1986.


He worked for several years for John Deere in Cimarron, and later as a bus mechanic for the Cimarron school system until 1968. He later was employed for Koch Industries.


He was a charter member of the First Southern Baptist Church, Cimarron.


Survivors include two sons, Alan Eskam and wife Jane, Cimarron, Jerry Eskam and wife Brenda, Altus, Oklahoma; two daughters, Vicki Burns and husband Charles, and Donna Wulf, and husband Wayne, all of Cimarron, one brother, Ernest J. Eskam, Boulder City, Nevada; ten grandchildren, twenty seven great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren.


He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Leland, Godfrey, Hilton, and Marvin Eskam.
