Everett William Bauman, 77, was born March 24, 1936, in Burlington, Wis., and died May 28, 2013, at his home in Longview.

Everett attended South Bend High School and served in the Army during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in June 1961 as a sergeant. He moved to the local area in 1978.

On June 15, 1956, he married Sharon Gray in Lebam, Wash. On Aug. 22, 1977, he married Peggy Fields. She preceded him in death.

Everett was a member of the Carpenters Union for 53 years and eight months, most recently working as a project superintendent. He was also a member of the Moose and Eagles lodges. Everett was an avid golfer and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He never turned down a cribbage game or any good game of cards.

His brother Leo was once asked, "Out of all the people you've ever known, if you had to pick one guy to run a river with, someone you could really depend on, who would you pick?" Leo replied, "No question about it - it would be my little brother 'Poncho.'" He'd be it. He'd never quit ya."

Everett was an amazing father, brother, husband and friend. He will be truly missed.

In addition to his wife, Peggy, he was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Nell (Gadd) Radke; and an infant son, Michael Bauman.

Everett is survived by four children, Jeffery E. Bauman of Centralia, Sandy (Tony) Lane of Yakima, Ronald W. (Patsi) Bauman of Seattle and Sara Jean Bauman of Longview; five stepchildren, Debra Salari of Seattle, Lauri (Bob) McCauley of Lake Newnan, Wash., Karen Mossman of Kelso, Doug Ross of Longview and Colleen Robinson of Snohomish, Wash.; four brothers, Leo (Emma) Bauman of Brewster, Wash., Garth (Pauline) Bauman of Galax, Va., Bob (Gloria) Bauman of Rochester, Wash., and Jim (Helen) Bauman of Menlo, Wash.; numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and dear friends Nadine and Carla Pegg and Bob Betzler.

A memorial service and reception is planned for 2 p.m. June 22 at Steele Chapel at Longview Memorial Park & Crematory. Pastor Tim Berg will officiate.
