CALHOUN RITES HELD AT HOME THIS MORNING.

Prominent Lincoln Parish Farmer Succumbs To Pneumonia.

(From Monday's Daily)

Funeral services for John D. Calhoun, age 77, and prominent citizen of Lincoln parish, who died of pneumonia early Sunday morning were held at the family home in the Douglas community this morning at ten o'clock. Interment followed in the family plot at Greenwood cemetery beside the grave of his wife who died several years ago.

A large gathering of friends from the entire parish was present at the last rites which were conducted by the Rev. R. W. Vaughan of Ruston who was assisted by the Rev. Cady of Choudrant.

Active pallbearers were Samuel Ambrose, Charles Rinehart, Howard Holstead, John Boddy, John Baker, Edward Boddy, Edward Holloway and J. L. Rinehart.

Honorary pallbearers included: Glenn L. Shadow, T. H. Mills, Roy Cook, J. B. Kendall, W. J. Lewis, J. G. Davis, Dr. John Thurmon, P. W. Baskerville, S. L. Barksdale, Allen Barksdale, Add Thompson, O. E. Hodge, G. A. Adams, Jim Boddy, A. H. Henderson, V. M. Davis, J. D. Barksdale, M. C. Stockbridge, Drs. W. S. Harrell, S. L. White, W. S. Rutledge, J. J. Bennett, M. T. Green, W. P. Bone, and G. C. Patterson.

Mr. Calhoun was born at Sibley in 1854 and early in life became a member of Douglas Methodist church.

Coming from one of Lincoln parish's most prominent families, Mr. Calhoun himself was considered a successful farmer and was a leader in his home community where he resided for the past fifty years.

Surviving relatives include two children, Dr. D. S. Calhoun and Miss Belle Calhoun, of this city ; a brother, Dr. James Calhoun of St. Louis, Missouri, and a sister, Mrs. Elbert Warren of Ruston.
